The cafe's menu showcases an impressive array of both traditional and contemporary Japanese flavors. If you're in search of a hearty meal, the hamburger with tomato sauce, rice, fried egg, and a fresh salad is a must-try, paired beautifully with a rich onion soup that will warm your soul. A favorite among visitors, the seafood Doria is another standout; this satisfying dish of creamy baked rice brings the taste of the ocean right to your plate.

One of the reviews captures this sentiment perfectly: “One of the best French toasts I have ever had,” highlighting the mastery behind Takaraya's kitchen.

But the star of the show might just be the extensive selection of teas available for purchase, perfect for tea lovers looking to take a bit of Japan home with them. According to one customer, the floral quality of their tea is divine, making each sip a fragrant experience to savor.

This café is so lovely !! Just like the staff and the little cat The food was delicious , I had the hamburger with tomato sauce , rice , fried egg and a little salad. It comes with a very tasty onion soup. I had a cup of tea : divine , so floral, produced in Japan and they sell all the different teas as well. I unfortunately only stay one day in Nagasaki but I would come back everyday otherwise! They speak English and have an English menu :)

After our emotional visit to the Peace Park under the sweltering afternoon sun, we took a much-needed break at a nearby café. The refreshing matcha azuki shaved ice was a perfect way to cool down—beautifully balanced with rich green tea and sweet red bean. We also enjoyed a plate of seafood Doria, which was flavorful and satisfying. The café offered a calm, cozy atmosphere that gave us a moment to rest and reflect.

The warmest welcome we have received on our trip so far! The selection of teas is very impressive, it was hard to pick which one we wanted but we were very kindly helped by the owner who is incredibly lovely and friendly. It turned out to be delicious and even though we came in with the intention of only having tea, we couldn't help ordering a sandwich and a strawberry trifle too, and we are so glad we did! Both were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The whole experience at Takaraya was so enjoyable we highly recommend visiting if you are in Nagasaki!

Lovely place with a friendly boss who even showed us his personal collection of samurai swords! Ordered the French toast with earl grey sauce and it was so good. One of the best French toasts desserts I have ever had

The signature pancake was beyond my expectation. It’s thick yet provided a fluffy texture and divine sweetness that melted in my mouth with each bite. I’m a coffee person but really enjoyed the tea which offered delicious and delicate flavor and smell. The owner was very knowledgeable and explored with me which one could be suitable for my taste. It’s a very fun experience. And the hamburger steak lunch plate was good too

We were there in August, just right to cool off from the hot summer heat. Sweet little teahouse with delicious food and friendly staff. The banana juice was freshly made and as a highlight we were shown samurai daggers.

This is my first time here but my wife's 2nd time. My wife came here first last 2024 with her workmates all the way from the Philippines and she said that there's a cat there in Nagasaki that runs a café even though we are full, we still go here just to try their Doria and meet Boss Cat The owner and staff(daughter?) are very accomodating, especially the Boss Cat...Boss Cat made us feel special on that day I will visit Nagasaki again if given a chance especially this café. I wish you good business and fortune in the future. Till we meet again Boss Cat...
